Schematic Connectivity Review
Find common schematic connection issues
Try an example: Review an unconnected resistor · Review an empty schematic
How it works
Review an Ohmforge schematic for isolated pins, dangling wires, missing ground references, duplicate designators, and net-label conflicts.
- Validates a bounded native Ohmforge project and evaluates the same connectivity model used in the schematic workspace.
- Reports isolated component pins, free wire endpoints, a missing ground reference, duplicate reference designators ignoring case, and merged net-label warnings.
- Pins on wire segments, common vertices and wire endpoints on other segments connect; crossing segment interiors alone do not. Ground and matching net labels are global connections.
- A wire on a pin suppresses the isolated-pin warning even if its other end is free; inspect dangling-wire findings as well.
This is a connectivity review, not a complete electrical rules check, physical safety assessment, or PCB design-rule check. A quiet report does not establish that a circuit is correct or safe.

Review schematic connections
Inspect an Ohmforge schematic for common connectivity findings.
What it is for
Use Schematic Connectivity Review to inspect a saved Ohmforge schematic for common connection problems. Paste the contents of an exported .ohmforge.json project into the field and run the review. It checks component pins, wire endpoints, ground references, reference designators, and net labels using Ohmforge's schematic connectivity model.
The review reports what the drawing represents. It does not know what you intended the circuit to do, check electrical pin roles or component ratings, simulate the circuit, or verify a physical board. It is not a complete electrical rules check, physical safety assessment, or PCB design-rule check.
Worked example
Choose Review an unconnected resistor. The example contains one resistor and no wires. The report shows two isolated-pin warnings, one for each resistor pin, and a missing-ground warning. These are useful prompts to inspect the design; an intentionally unfinished drawing can of course contain isolated pins.
Return to Ohmforge, connect the pins as your circuit requires, and add a ground reference where the design needs one. Export the updated project and review it again. A wire attached at one end can suppress that pin's isolated warning even when the wire's other end remains open. In that case, look for the separate informational dangling-wire finding.
Try Review an empty schematic too. It produces no findings because there is no circuit to inspect; this does not mean an empty schematic is ready to build.
How to read the result
The summary counts warnings and informational findings separately. Each finding names its type and gives the component, pin, wire, point, or label involved when available. The machine-readable result also contains the net count, whether a ground reference exists, grounded component pins, and coordinates for relevant findings.
Ohmforge connects pins on wire segments, common vertices, and wire endpoints on other segments. Two wire interiors crossing without a shared endpoint do not connect. Matching net labels connect globally, as do ground symbols and 0/GND labels. A ground reference is useful for simulation but its presence alone says nothing about grounding or safety in physical hardware.
Tips and common mistakes
Export the native project from Ohmforge and paste the entire JSON document, not just a netlist or screenshot. KiCad project files are not accepted. The tool allows up to 200 parts, 200 wires, 1,000 total wire points, at most 100 points per wire, and 200 KB of input.
Review intentional open connections in context. A dangling endpoint is informational because an unfinished or deliberately open wire can be valid. Duplicate designators are compared without regard to case. Label conflict messages identify connected names rather than deciding which name you intended.
The tool submits your input for server-side processing. Avoid submitting confidential designs unless you are comfortable with the service's handling of them.
FAQ
Does a report with no findings prove the circuit is correct?
No. It only means these specific connectivity checks produced no findings. Check electrical compatibility, ratings, simulation behavior, fabrication constraints, and safety separately.
Do crossing wires connect?
Not when only their segment interiors cross. A shared endpoint, a pin on a segment, or a wire endpoint touching a segment creates a connection under Ohmforge's model.
Can I review a KiCad schematic file directly?
No. This tool accepts Ohmforge project JSON only. Use KiCad's own electrical rules and board checks for KiCad projects.
